INDUSTRIAL BUILDINGS

AM Flat Roofing can handle any industrial flat roof need from repairs, maintenance plans, replacement to new roof construction. We recommend EPDM or TPO flat roofing for industrial building depending on the size but we are adept at building with many other materials.

Industrial flat roofs are the go-to standard for all existing industrial buildings and for all new buildings. A properly installed flat roof will protect your products and machinery while helping you create a safe work environment for your employees.

Special Considerations for Industrial Buildings.

Industrial flat roofs differ in a few ways from commercial, residential and institutional flat roofs. Commercial, residential and institutional flat roofs often have to cover different levels and shaped buildings that are conjoined together, think of a shopping mall for example, and thus essentially each section is its own roof. Industrial flat roofs on the other hand generally cover a larger surface area and don’t have the same segmentation considerations.

However this doesn’t mean industrial flat roofs are easier to install than flat roofs for other types of buildings, just that there are different issues to handle. One obvious concern is drainage on a roof with a large square footage. The design of industrial flat roof drainage systems has to be well thought out, as the problems that arise with water pooling over a large surface area can be disastrous. If you see water pooling on your industrial flat roof call us immediately before it turns into a larger problem.

When you have a flat roof for and industrial building you will want to maintain it properly. This will prevent all whole host of problems from leaks and pooling to cracking and blisters. You can do this by doing regular inspections and having a scheduled maintenance plan. Most maintenance plans perform routine maintenance twice a year in the spring and fall. Maintenance is also recommended after a harsh storm or more frequently than twice a year if you live in an area with a particularly extreme climate.

For new industrial buildings getting their first flat roof or if you are looking to replace your current one EPDM or TPO is the material we recommend. EPDM roofing is made of rubber, we use an environmentally friendly kind, it is currently the mot popular flat industrial roofing material and we use it on mid-size to large buildings. TPO, also known as thermoplastic roofing, is another flat roofing material we use. It is white and reflects heat well thus reducing your utility costs.
